So the last couple of months (though mostly the last month) I've been nearly AWOL on the blog front. I haven't written nearly at the same rate as I had been previously. Well, I guess it's time to admit, I was in the middle of a hot and heavy affair. She was a tough girl, initials: L.S.A.T. But that's behind me now. I ended things last Saturday morning after a 4-5 hour session (broken up into 6 35 minute segments of course)...It'll probably take me a little bit before I really start get back in the groove, but thankfully, MacSanta's special today included MarsEdit (which a really solid blogging application that lets me do my Vox, Wordpress, etc... blogs all from one location). And, after fiddling with some server settings, I even have it posting to kivus.com (That little .htaccess file will bite you everytime...) Anyway, all I'm saying, it's nice to be back.
It's been a little while since I did an egosurf on my name. I have to say, I'm fairly disappointed. Apparently, about 3 weeks of not posting has had a rather negative impact on my overall rankings.

Another new Wordpress post, this one entitled "Tales of a Twenty-Something Conservative". This makes 4 out of the 5 I was trying to complete by the end of the day on August 1st, and like the others, can be read on kivus.com and johnkivus.com
Excerpt:
Yes, it’s true. Existing in the wild today are conservatives who are in their twenties. Of course, when we go out, we normally have film crews following us: “Watch them enter those buildings. They come here every Sunday. We think they’re called churches” the narrator says. “Then after attending these ‘churches’, they go home, and watch cars drive quite quickly in a circle. It’s a growing sport, known as ‘NASCAR.’ We have yet to fully understand the rules, but we think it has something to do with the different colored flags they wave from time to time.” As far as the media and our peers are concerned, we might as well be some rare species.
I did a little work with Yahoo Pipes to combine my kivus.com feed, kivus.vox.com feed and my kivus.info feed, burned it, and the end result is this: http://feeds.feedburner.com/KivusCombinedFeed. I'm going to use that in the future on sites like Facebook & Virb that allow you to import feeds as a way to publish your existing content....
Doing some manual egosurf checks, this time for "john kivus"

Just got down updating my Web Presence page (i.e. the page that lists all my various profiles in Web 2.0 and social networking sites). I added things like Pownce, my new golf comments Tumblr, and also some of the new "easy url" versions of things (i.e. "facebook.kivus.com" for my Facebook Profile instead of the whole awful URL they normally give.)
You can view the full page at kivus.com & johnkivus.com
I just noticed my RSS feeds are now just excerpts from posts instead of the full posts? Anyone else seeing this? Anyone know how to get it back to the full posts?
UPDATE: Got a response from the Vox team:
For the feeds you've already subscribed to, you can change the URL to either atom-full.xml or rss-full.xml instead of the atom.xml or rss.xml you're using now.
Just updated links on my side bar, putting in my Facebook Profile, my primary Tumblr (http://justsitthereandcarrydisease.com) and my Web Presence page that lists all the various aspects of my online presence. I could have put my MySpace up there, but I would much rather people joined me on Facebook since the site is about 100x better. See you guys in the tubes of the internets!
Looks like you can now add some of your own widgets and things in your Vox side bar. I just put my twitter badge in there, since I always thought it should go this site instead of one of my other blogs.
I just changed my Vox theme to the new "Comic Book" theme. I kind of like it, and I think it jives well with what I'm using this blog for.
