Well, it looks like I no longer have a horse in the race, as Jaimie was eliminated from SYTYCD tonight. I had wondered what her face base would be so I'm not really surprised to see her go. She got one last dance in, in a really cool black & red corset looking thing, but ultimately she got the lowest votes for a female. It's too bad, as she's an excellent dancer.
On the bright side, she does get to go on the SYTYCD dance tour, so that should be a good time. Hopefully she enjoys NC when she makes her way down.
Videos of last night's performance still haven't been posted, but here's the rest of her run.

So not sure what to think about Jaimie and Dominic's routine tonight, other than I thought Jaimie kind of looked like a pirate in that dress. Once again she was stellar, but I think the judges were insanely harsh on her. I'm also worried because I'm not sure what her target audience is...
On a side note, the whole "all dancers doing the same solo" was terrible. Yes, it accomplished the goal of not letting people like Sarah and Dominic dominate with insanely cool solos, protecting "contemporary" dancers like Neil, but it was boring to watch and I fast forwarded through most of them after the first two. Also, Wade Robson needs to stick to the dancing and not babel on about his political views. Obviously he didn't get the memo that people turn to actors for ignorant political rhetoric.
I'll post the video of Jaimie's performance when / if it shows up on YouTube.
Congratulations to Jaimie on making the Top 10 on _So You Think You Can Dance_. I was waiting for her latest solo to be posted on YouTube, but I guess this is the closet I'm going to get:

In a decision that wasn't a shocker, Hok was eliminated from So You Think You Can Dance tonight. It's too bad the judges could not reward someone with such unique solo talent (and someone who did surprisingly well in a number of the styles), but it's not surprising they kept around the "contemporary" dancers instead.
There seems to be a degree of arrogance involved with the evaluations, where the dancer "elites" like Mary Murphy and Mia Michaels seem to not respect people who have break dancing and hip-hop dancing as their primary styles, because these styles don't involve "Formal Training". Also, the whole "inner circle" structure of the show, where you have last year's contestants involved with the choreographers (or even being choreographer's themselves), some of this year's contestants being choreographers assistants before, and various family relationships among constants throughout the seasons, make it seem like there is some inner group that you need to be a part of if you want to really excel.
This is further pushed by the fact that the original partner assignments played such a huge roll in things this year. Faina was axed early because she was dancing with Cedric while some stiff like Cameron can stick around because he's the partner of last year's champions sister. One of the only group who I feel has really "earned" where they are every week is Dominic and Sabra, who have danced extremely well the past few weeks and have earned their votes...instead of just being related to Benji.
To finish up, I'll mention that once again Jaimie's solo was a joy to watch. (I am beginning to wonder if it's possible for her to lean over without extending her leg perfect straight up to the ceiling...it seems almost like a reaction at this point...)
I'll end with the last video of Jaimie and Hok dancing together.

Once again Jaimie put on magnificently stunning performance, and personally, I felt that Hok wasn't half bad. I still think, however, that the judges have a bullseye firmly planted on Hok's back and no matter what he does in his solo tomorrow I'm thinking the judges will axe him. It's unfortunate really because he brings a whole other flavor to the competition, however, I'm guessing the judges don't want to let America keep Hok around based on his high energy and entertaining solos and would rather have someone like Neil or Cameron prance around with their "contemporary" styles. Ideally, it would be Cameron who gets the axe, since he's clearly just riding on Benji's Sister's coattails (who, ironically, is riding Benji's...), unfortunately, due to Benji's popularity, I doubt Lacey and Cameron will be in the bottom three.
Tonight's episode further showed how weak Mary Murphy is the permanent 2nd judge. After Wade gave breakdown after breakdown of the dancers, Mary resorted to annoying screams and pointless puns. The problem with having Wade as a judge is that it prevents him from being able to choreograph the routines. I'd say the show would be much improved with Nigel and Dan Karatay as the two stable judges, with Wade making appearances about every thing week and definitely a judge on the final few shows. Mary could possibly brought in as a guest judge at some point, since she might be able to give some insights in a more minor role. I feel the show would loose absolutely nothing if Mia Michaels had no involvement with it whatsoever in either a choreographing or judging capacity.

Video of Jaimie and Hok's Top 14 Performace
Well, Jaimie managed to move on yesterday. She was probably #1 out of the bottom 3, since it was so much more natural for her to do a solo than Anya. I guess it was time for Cedric to go, it's just too bad that in the process he took Faina down with him.
Looking to next week, my guess is that if Hok is in the bottom 3, they''ll axe him. They can't afford to let him get to the point where viewers are the only ones to decide his fate because he's such a popular dancer who has really creative and interesting solos that he'd go far, which would just irritate people like Mary Murphy and Mia Michaels (who hopefully has made her last appearance on the show this season...). Here's hoping that Jaimie and Hok get a good draw on their dance style this week.
It was a rough night for Jaimie & Hok, mostly because of the dance they chose (the waltz). My guess, with the judges they have today, is that they've got targets on Hok & Cedric, and if either one is in the bottom, they'll vote them out. So, I'm rooting more for Jaimie than usual to try and keep her out of the bottom 3. Jaimie & Hok's number was 888-83676-06.
