The tenth issue of _Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season Eight_ came out a couple of weeks ago. Though there are some small plot elements dealing with previous issues, Issue #10 is for all intents and purposes a one-shot (i.e. it stands alone). It was written by Joss Whedon himself and tells the story of Buffy and Willow going on an adventure to stop a demon that's busting through a hole in reality.
For anyone who has watched and loved Joss' shows, especially Buffy, over the last 10+ years, this issue is a near perfect mix of humor, action, and those emotional moments that separated Buffy from your standard television fare. If you're a Buffy fan, you owe it to yourself to pick up this issue, even if you're not currently following the entire Season 8 run.
"If things get dicey, I get Slay-ey. But that's not what we came here for."

I'd been toying with this post for a while, but could never really get something together that really knocked it out of the park. Since the Florida primary is today, however, I figured I had to get those out. Post can be read at kivus.com & johnkivus.com

I completed all the missions on Macheist so I took the plunge and bought this year's Macheist bundle. Some really good programs like Pixelmator (which I just bought...grrr...), Speed Download and AppZapper...They're trying to do a little viral thing now, so if you haven't bought it, you can go buy the bundle here and get a Launchbar too....(I think that's how it's supposed to work anyway...)
Just put up my review of _New Amsterdam_, set against a background of similar shows like _Angel_, _The Dresden Files_ & _Moonlight_. I don't do a lot of TV review work usually, so I'm not sure I balanced history with the new show quite right. Also, my writing style in emails and other messages is starting to effect my "long form" writing, since I want to throw "..." in all the time.
Oh well, you can read the rundown at kivus.com and johnkivus.com
As a side note, only a few more days until _Torchwood_ starts up across the pond on the BBC & a few weeks until it makes it way over here to BBC America.

Huh...sometimes I wonder what photographers are thinking....

So apparently, _Moonlight_ won the "People's Choice Award" for "Best New TV Drama". Now, I like a good vampire story as much as the next guy, and I see what their doing with by bringing in some of the elements of classic detective shows, but "Best New Drama"? That might be a stretch...
Of course, I have been a Sophia Myles fan since her appearances in the _Underworld_ movies & a 1 episode showing on _Doctor Who_:
On the other hand, _Moonlight_ has been trying to play the "attractive vampire" card, bringing people like Australian pop start Holly Vallance:

Vox is a pretty B.A. blogging platform and it's worked great for me. My only problem is that a post to Vox is pretty irretrievable...they have all the content stored on their servers and if I ever decide I want to use something else, it would probably be a real hassle. Luckily, MarsEdit (the blog editor program I use) lets me easily post to multiple blogs & has fairly nice media management features. So, I'm going to now start "double posting" to both my Vox blog here (kivus.vox.com) and my new blog (blog.kivus.com). This way, I can still participate in all the community features of Vox, but I'll still have a database of posts to take with me if I ever decide to move on (or SixApart does something to seriously bugger up Vox).
I haven't quite found a Wordpress theme I like yet, so let me know if you have any suggestions...

I took some time to write up my thoughts on the major presidential candidates. I'm saving my "I'm with X" post for a later date though, so don't get your hopes up too high. You can read the latest post on kivus.com and johnkivus.com

It's been a while since I wrote anything, so my skills were a little rusty, still I figured now might be a good time to look at how I wish media was distributed....
